Ideas
These are some of the projects I am working on and looking to develop further. They are at an early stage so I try focus on the idea. If you invest too much time in materials and making it becomes difficult to make changes – or simply reject it as an idea that isn’t going to work.
Shift
Cubes made up of 27 smaller cubes. The smaller cubes can be removed but must be added back – shifted. It is based on Lygia Pape’s wonderful Livro do tempo (Book of Time), 1961-63, where she takes 365 squares and cuts bits out and adds them back in.
I’m not sure where this is going to go and how to develop the materiality. I like the scale – the cubes are 45 x 45 x 45mm – and feel that they are definitely things that need to be handled.
Slip
Stacks of cubes. Each cube is cut at a different compound angle and slipped in two directions. At the moment they are 350 x 70 x 70mm but could be much bigger – perhaps cast in concrete.
